DC fast charging stations for public and fleet use

BEVDC series DC fast chargers — single or double CCS2 output models from 40 kW to 200 kW. Suitable for commercial field use with OCPP 1.6J/ 2.0.1 support, RFID authentication, IP54 protection and wide temperature range (-25°C / +55°C).

What is a DC fast charging station and how does it differ from AC charging?

In DC fast charging the AC-to-DC conversion happens inside the station rather than inside the car, so the limit of the vehicle's own converter does not apply and charging finishes far faster. The Bemis BEVDC range consists of 40, 80, 120, 160, 180 and 200 kW models, has CCS2 outputs and is built with one or two sockets. The input is AC 380-480V three-phase, the output 150-1000V DC, and the protection rating is IP54.

What is the difference between DC charging and AC charging?

In AC charging, electricity goes to the vehicle as alternating current and the on-board converter turns it into direct current; this is why it is limited to 22 kW. In DC charging, the conversion takes place inside the station and direct current flows straight into the battery; it can reach 50-350 kW. The result: with DC an EV reaches 80% in 20-40 minutes, whereas AC takes 6-8 hours.

How many vehicles can BEVDC models charge at the same time?

The BEVDC-40 has a single socket and delivers 40 kW to one vehicle. The BEVDC-80, BEVDC-120, BEVDC-160, BEVDC-180 and BEVDC-200 have two sockets; the total power can be shared simultaneously between two vehicles. For example, the BEVDC-200 can deliver 100 kW to two vehicles at once, or 200 kW to a single vehicle (if the vehicle supports it).

What is required to install a DC charger?

DC units require a 3-phase 380-480V grid connection, a transformer or a high-power subscription (200-400 kVA) for the BEVDC-120 and above, a floor-mounting platform, sufficient airflow for cooling, and an Ethernet or 4G line for OCPP communication. Which BEVDC model is suitable for my fleet?

If your fleet vehicles have 50-60 kWh batteries on average and operate within the city, the BEVDC-40 is sufficient. For commercial fleets on long journeys or taxis/couriers that need a fast turnaround, the BEVDC-120 provides 80% charge in 30 minutes. For public high-traffic stations the BEVDC-160/200 is recommended; two vehicles charge quickly at the same time.

What is needed to open a public DC charging point?

A licence or authorisation certificate from EPDK under the charging service regulation, an OCPP-enabled unit, integration with the EPVIS system, and billing/payment infrastructure (Bemis CPO software or a third party) are required.
