EV Charging Cables

Type 2 · Mod 2 & Mod 3 certified cable solutions

Mode 2 and Mode 3 charging cables with Type 2 standard. It is designed for long-lasting use in single and three-phase, 16a – 32a current classes with IEC 62196 / IEC 61851 compliant, halogen-free outer sheath and high-current Type 2 connector.

How do I choose an EV charging cable?

Choosing a charging cable comes down to three values: current, phase and length. Bemis Type 2 cables are made in 16A and 32A versions; they carry 3.7-7.4 kW single-phase and 11-22 kW three-phase. The conductor cross-section is 2.5 mm² on 16A models and 6 mm² on 32A models, and the length is chosen between 3 and 15 metres. A cable does not increase your car's charging speed; the ceiling is set by the car's own AC limit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long should an AC charging cable be?

We find that a 5-metre cable is sufficient in most cases: it is ideal if the distance between the vehicle's charging socket and the wall does not exceed 3-4 metres when parked. If your garage or car park layout is different, 7.5 m and 10 m options are available. The longer the cable, the heavier and stiffer it is; choosing an unnecessarily long cable makes it harder to handle.

What is the difference between Type 2 and Type 1?

Type 1 (SAE J1772) is used in North American and older Asian vehicles and supports single-phase charging up to 7.4 kW. Type 2 (IEC 62196-2) is the European standard and supports three-phase charging up to 22 kW. Almost all new EVs on the Turkish market use Type 2. Older versions of the Tesla Model S/X used Type 1; new Teslas are Type 2.

How do I choose between a 16A and a 32A cable?

16A cables handle up to 3.7 kW single-phase and 11 kW three-phase. 32A cables are rated for 7.4 kW single-phase and 22 kW three-phase. Choose the cable according to the highest current your wallbox or vehicle can draw; if the cable is the bottleneck, charging speed drops.

Does cable selection depend on the vehicle brand?

Because the connector type is standardised (Type 2 across virtually the entire European market), cable selection is brand-independent. The only difference is each vehicle's AC charging acceptance: if you buy a 22 kW cable for a vehicle that accepts 11 kW, no extra power flows — you simply have a safety margin.

Will a three-phase cable work with my vehicle?

Yes, a three-phase cable also supports single-phase charging. If your vehicle is single-phase, the cable automatically operates in single-phase mode and is limited to 7.4 kW. A three-phase cable saves you from replacing it if you buy a three-phase vehicle in the future.

Who is the domestic manufacturer of electric car charging cables?

Bemis E-V Charge is a domestic manufacturer producing electric car charging cables at its 16,000 m² facility in the Bursa Organised Industrial Zone. It builds on the heritage of Bemis Teknik Elektrik dating back to 1994; its Type 2 (Mode 3) cables carry a 94% Domestic Goods Certificate and are CE certified. The cables are not imported and relabelled — they are made in our own facility.

Are the charging cables imported or made in Türkiye?

Bemis E-V Charge charging cables are manufactured in Türkiye, at our own facility in Bursa. This gives you direct access to the product, spare parts and technical support from the manufacturer; for project-based orders, cable length and socket colour can be customised on request.

What is the difference between a charging cable and a charging set?

A charging cable has a socket at both ends (Type 2 – Type 2); it connects a wall-mounted charging station or a unit in a shared area to your vehicle. A charging set (Mode 2) is a portable solution with a mains plug at one end and a control box in the middle; it lets you charge directly from a socket without a separate charging station. If you have a wall-mounted unit at home, a charging cable is the right choice; if you need a solution on the road or as a backup, a charging set is suitable.

Does the cable affect charging speed?

A cable cannot deliver a speed higher than the current it is rated for; what actually determines charging speed is your vehicle's on-board AC charger. For example, if your vehicle is limited to 7.4 kW, fitting a three-phase 32A cable will not make it faster. Conversely, a low-capacity cable limits the speed: a single-phase 16A cable carries up to 3.7 kW, single-phase 32A up to 7.4 kW and three-phase 32A up to 22 kW. The right choice is the cable that matches the highest value supported by both your vehicle and your charger.

What should I do if my charging cable develops a fault?

Our products are covered by a 2-year manufacturer's warranty. Do not open or attempt to repair the cable yourself; unplug it and stop using it. Contact the authorised dealer you purchased it from, or reach us by following the steps on the Support page under the Guide menu of our website. The product code, proof of purchase and a photo or video showing the problem speed up the process.
